No, just about No & No!

I really, really, really wanted mini cupcakes in white cases this morning, that would explain the four brands of mini white cases I had on the bench today, the two different recipe batches of vanilla cake batter and the 96 mini cupcakes I eventually baked.

Want to guess how many of those 96 mini cupcakes actually didn't have the case fall off shortly after baking?? ONE. One lone mini cupcake from the 8 dozen cakes. AHHHHHHHH!!!

Moving on to dried pear toppers; I saw in the Women's Weekly Cupcake book pear slices, brushed with sugar syrup and dried to make into 'butterflies' by pinching the end in. I decided to make a more sculptural shapes, once finished I thought they were a bit "unattractive brownish" so I made them again this time using lemon juice wash first before brushing with sugar syrup.

They looked worse so I pulled out the citric acid and bathed the slices for baking. Yep, yep, yep, then I thought I'd paint the edges gold. My husband likes the finished toppers, they remind me of a woman who has had her hair done but forgot to put her make up on.

just about "no" to these pear toppers

Later in the day in order to forget the morning I thought I'd try a new recipe for a buttercake, the results were like nothing I'd seen before.

a definite "NO"

I thought "okay, I must have made a mistake" and whipped up a new batch leaving me with my final thought "some times the recipe just stinks" ;)
