snap, crackle and pop cross the globe

If you're a fan of cable TV show 'Ace of Cakes' you would have seen them carving Rice Krispies Treats to become sculptural parts of cakes.

In Australia we call Rice Krispies Treats 'LCM's', we call Rice Krispies cereal 'Rice Bubbles' and I have no idea how our name for them came about but they are the same thing marshmallow & puffed rice cereal.

I've never worked with the treats before so I thought I'd give it a try...

I decided to make a castle tower cupcake topper so rolled a shape

then shaped and cut another shape for the top of the roll

obtain sharp edges and carving by cutting and slicing the treats

Here is my partially finished tower I need for a planned cupcake, I've started to "age" and add "mould" the surface fondant and now it needs to dry overnight before I go on with any of the finishing work.

Conclusion; LCM's, Rice Krispies Treats or whatever you call them where you are from are fun and easy to work with, well worth giving it a try.

Happy Baking :)
